Good to Know: Our Interior Design Process
Hiring an interior designer can be intimidating for a few reasons, one being the unknown. Many people don’t know what to expect when they hire a designer to build or remodel their home. Today we’re going to help demystify the process by sharing a glimpse into our interior design process.
Before we begin the design process, we start by meeting with the client. Whether it’s in person or over the phone, we seek an understanding of what our client would like to accomplish. This is where we ask questions regarding location, timeline, budget, etc. in order to determine if we would be a good fit for each other. Next, we put together a bid for all of our services. This way our clients know upfront what to expect in terms of budget before moving forward.
Once the bid is signed and approved, our team gets working on concepts. We take everything we learned from our initial conversation and pull photos from Pinterest, Instagram and other sources to create the general direction of the style and overall look and feel of the design project. This is important to make sure our vision is aligned with the client’s needs and lifestyle before we beginning sourcing and designing the spaces.

Next, we design, draw and source everything needed for the project. We take particular time and care here to ensure each design is unique, customized and authentic to our client and their family. We create presentations of our drawings and the finishes so our clients can visualize each space and how they will interact with one another.

Throughout the design process, we have a team handling the project management working closely with contractors, vendors and the client to be sure the designs are executed just how we envisioned and in a timely manner. Juggling all of these things during your home remodel or new build is a very time-consuming element that many people don’t consider until they’re having to do it all themselves. Our ordering team also takes the time to place furniture, lighting, accessory, etc. orders and manages the shipping and tracking to be sure they are all delivered and received where they need to be.
Finally, our favorite and final step - the install. Once the remodel or build is complete, lighting is in and construction dust is cleaned, our team facilitates the install of rugs, artwork, furnishings and accessories. Depending on the project, we style each room, make the beds, steam window coverings and hang art so it feels complete and beautiful for our clients and their families to finally enjoy.
