This week, instead of a Good to Know, we’re collaborating with one of our favorite small businesses, Heirloom Art Co, to talk about choosing meaningful gifts that will last generations. If you’ve gotten to visit Heirloom’s store in Provo, Utah, you’ll know that they specialize in curated, thoughtful items. The store feels very special, because it contains a smorgasbord of special and beautiful things. Their mission is to help people live and buy meaningfully, and to help people give great gifts!

We know that many people want the gifts that they give to mean something and be useful, and this year more than ever, we want to encourage people to shop small, and to buy fewer but more meaningful gifts. By investing in high quality pieces, you are purchases items that will last years and sometimes even decades. The years of use allow those pieces to have memories created around them, and in time, they become sentimental heirlooms. Think about the pieces in your home that are meaningful to you. Maybe there is a quilt from a grandmother or a wool blanket that you love. These pieces have lasted years, and I’m sure you hope that they’ll last many more. Objects can be powerful reminders of our own stories and our interactions with others. Items that create a memory or trigger a happy memory from the past make some of the very best gifts.

Today we’re sharing a few of our favorite pieces from Heirloom’s Collection. They are items that we think, for one reason or another, are gifts worth giving. If you’d like to find your own gifts worth giving, use the code WDESIGN10OFF at checkout for 10% off your purchase.

This shape is unique, but steeped in history, and it will never go out of style.

Orange Pitcher

Playful items like this orange pitcher don’t go with anything and therefore go with everything. As time goes on, it will become more beloved and nostalgic, a family memory in the making.

Old Pine Console Table

I inherited a demilune table from my Grandma that is a similar shape to this table, and it is the most versatile piece in my home. Their narrow depth makes them the perfect piece for those hard-to-fit spaces. This table is made of pine, which means that it will age well and be able to be passed on for generations.

Handwoven Kitchen Linens

Linen is my absolute favorite material, with wool being a close second. These kitchen linens are worth every penny because they wash beautifully and get better with time.

Stile Liberty Multihook

The beauty of brass is in its durability and brightness. This multi-functional hook is perfect and will live in your homes for years.

Textile Rack

This piece is perfect for both form and function and the rich wood will stand the test of time. It’s a larger gift for Christmas, but will be useful and beautiful, our two favorite things.

Scottish Wool Throw

The subtle pattern of these wool throws makes them a timeless choice. Their wool construction means that they will last for decades, becoming more and more meaningful over time.
